What is the non-ablative Palomar® 1540 Fractional Laser?
The Palomar® Starlux 500 fractional laser 1540 is one of the most innovative and effective tools for skin rejuvenation without resorting to surgery or aggressive ablative laser treatments.
This device is mainly recommended for the treatment of skin irregularities of the face, periocular wrinkles, peribuccal wrinkles, neck and décolleté wrinkles as well as acne scarring, melasmas and skin spots.
The laser source is an erbium glass at 1540 nm which, thanks to a sophisticated set of lenses, generates a fractioned laser beam on the skin, which creates micro-columns of heat that cause photothermolysis with the appearance of microchannels. These channels are surrounded by healthy tissue which immediately starts the healing process with the formation of neo collagen.
The neo-collagen formation combined with the ablative effect results in a significant reduction in skin irregularities and an improvement in skin texture.

The treatment is in no way a substitute for a traditional facelift, but is designed to perform a gentle and minimally aggressive rejuvenation of the face.
- How is the treatment carried out?

The treatment lasts between 30 and 60 minutes and even when extended to the whole face, it is quick and well tolerated. At the end of the session, there is a slight burning sensation that lasts for about 1-2 hours, followed by slight redness and slight oedema of the treated area. This symptomatology gradually disappears over 24-48 hours. The patient can return to his or her normal social activities as early as the day of treatment, taking care to moisturise the skin thoroughly for 24 hours.
- When do you see the result and how long does it last?

Once the treatment is over, it is mandatory to protect the treated skin with a sun screen of at least 30 spf (high protection) combined with the application of a good moisturiser to promote the best possible results. The effectiveness of the treatment begins to be visible after 2-3 sessions and is fully manifested after about 5 sessions. The final result will continue to improve over the following 6 months.
