Capillaries of moderate calibre (1- 2 mm) can be brilliantly treated using the ND-Yag laser.
The effect of the concentrated laser on the vessels results in photocoagulation with immediate occlusion of the vessel and the appearance of small scabs on the skin, which heal within a week.
How does the intervention take place?
Approximately 2-3 sessions spaced 1 - 2 months apart are required to completely 'clean' the affected area.
After the treatment, which lasts about 30 - 60 minutes depending on the area concerned, it is recommended to apply an emollient and soothing cream to the treated areas. In the weeks preceding the treatment, exposure to sunlight and/or UVA lamps is strongly discouraged, as is taking medication that increases the skin's sensitivity to light.
The treatment of particularly thin capillaries (telangiectasias) requires the use of Palomar® Starluzx 500 Pulsed Light (IPL).
