Spots on the face, hands or décolleté are brilliantly treated using the Palomar® Starlux 500 pulsed light.
This machine, in combination with the G handpiece (wavelengths 500-670 nmil and 870-1400nm), allows, through repeated applications, the almost complete disappearance of melanocytic pigmentation of the skin.
How does preparation for surgery take place?
Before treatment, the doctor must rule out that the lesion in question is not malignant, after which the treatment sessions can be started at intervals of about 30 days until the spot or spots have 'completely' disappeared. In the weeks preceding the treatment, exposure to sunlight and/or UVA lamps is strongly discouraged, as is taking medication that increases the skin's sensitivity to light.
What will be the postoperative?
The session is absolutely painless. After application, the lesion tends to darken until a small scab appears, which will fall off spontaneously after 1-2 weeks. It is recommended to apply an emollient and soothing cream to the treated areas for 2-3 weeks.
