Cosmetic surgery in summer

Cosmetic surgery in summer

Summer is coming, are we all ready to enjoy the sun, the sea, the bikini? With the approach of the swimming costume test, all the insecurities silenced by sweaters and trousers during the winter come to the surface, along with the desire to immediately take corrective action. But is it possible to perform last-minute cosmetic surgery in the summer with good results?

Well yes, rest assured. In fact, for many operations, there is no perfect season forcosmetic surgery. Any time of year can be the right time as long as the doctor's instructions are followed, especially in the post-operative course. Sometimes, indeed, it can be useful to have a few days off to relax the body before returning to normal daily activities and thus face convalescence in the most peaceful way.

We were saying, therefore, that for some operations the autumn and winter period is preferred, because in summer the post-operative phase of operations such as abdominoplasty and lifting can become more delicate. The need to apply bandages and compression bandages after the operation can, for example, be particularly uncomfortable during the warmer months. The patient confined in compression girdles or bandages suffers too much in high temperatures. In addition, one must be very careful of the sun in the case of visible and exposed scars. After an operation, scars must not be exposed to the sun for up to 3 to 6 months if we do not want unsightly marks to remain.

On the other hand, there are no problems for operations such as rhinoplasty, prophyloplasty, otoplasty, but also breast reshaping operations (just avoid topless sunbathing) and in general for all operations that do not cause particularly visible scars.

There are also no particular contraindications for aesthetic medicine procedures such as hyaluronic acid fillers, Botox and biostimulation. On the other hand, treatments to regenerate the most superficial part of the skin should be avoided, i.e. laser and chemical peelings, treatments for skin blemishes, because the heat does not help adequate physical recovery in these cases and above all because even minimal exposure to the sun can compromise the result or leave unsightly marks.

For those who would like to undergo cosmetic surgery in the summer so as to have more freedom to take days off work, but also so as not to be seen with bruises and haematomas and to be back in top shape, there is however a solution: a holiday in the mountains or in any case in the cool, the use of sun creams with a total filter. Which is something you should always do anyway.
