After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1996, he specialised in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Florence, graduating with 70/70 cum laude.
His expertise includes collaborations with prestigious Reconstructive Microsurgery departments in Italy and Germany.
During his university training he attended prestigious plastic surgery centres in Munich, Vienna and Paris. In order to maintain a high level of training, he regularly visits plastic surgery centres in Brazil and the United States.
After multiple professional assignments in prestigious plastic surgery departments, he currently works as a freelancer, focusing on aesthetic surgery.
In addition to being an ordinary member of SICPRE (Italian Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), Dr. Romano has been an EBOPRAS fellow since 2009, having obtained the prestigious European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
Work experience:
Since 2013, he has directed the Plastic Surgery service at the Lotti Hospital in Pontedera.
From 2010 to 2011 he worked at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Pisa directed by Dr. Marcello Pantaloni as a level I medical director dealing in particular with breast and limb reconstruction with microsurgical technique.
From 2006 to 2009 he practised as a plastic surgeon, as a research fellow at the Plastic Surgery Department in Florence, where he worked in particular on breast reconstruction with autologous tissue using the microsurgical technique.
From June 2004 to June 2008, he held the position of medical director for harvesting operations at the Tissue and Cell Bank - Bone Tissue Preservation Centre of the Region of Tuscany, collaborating with the Toscana Trapianti Organisation (OTT) and performing over 250 harvesting operations of osteo-articular and ligamentous donor tissue. In this capacity, he actively collaborated with the Oncology and Reconstructive Orthopaedics Department of the C.T.O in Florence.
From November 2003 to June 2006, he worked at the Reconstructive Microsurgery Unit of the C.T.O. in Florence, directed by Dr. Marco Innocenti, acquiring notions of hand surgery and dealing in particular with reconstruction of the cervical-facial district and lower limbs.
In 2000, he attended the Maxillofacial Surgery Department in Florence for one academic year, acquiring theoretical-practical notions of traumatological, oncological and orthognathic surgery of the cervical-facial district.
From 1999 to 2003 he worked at the University Department of Plastic Surgery in Florence, directed by Prof. Domenico Lo Russo, obtaining a specialisation in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
